LION/MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH MARRIAGE The light finally breaks And lets the butterflies out The sound of war recedes My heart is ready for peace I feel so small before this daunting task When love takes off its confusing mask I see what love could possibly be If I had the courage to break with conformity I’d refuse to engage in this timeless war Of who will lose or who could win more I’d put a stop to this time-worn song Of how to love, and what’s right and what’s wrong I dance on the graves of my many mistakes Their cold shiny stones, they teach mе new moves Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tip tippity tap I’m moving forward with my new map Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tap tippity tip I’m moving forward, going on a trip Thе world’s too big to care for my plight I search, I bargain, I plea, and I fight To fit the world into a room with a view And share it with someone, could it be you? I dance on the graves of my many mistakes Their cold shiny stones, they teach me new moves Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tip tippity tap I’m moving forward with my new map Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tap tippity tip I’m moving forward, going on a trip Nah-nah I’ll be a lion, I’ll be a force I’ll let my voice out till it is hoarse My spirit will join the chorus of others We will be sisters, we will be brothers In the song of parity Love will be a thrill On the shared ground Of a shared will I dance on the graves of my many mistakes Their cold shiny stones teach me new moves Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tip tippity tap I’m moving forward with my new map Tip top tip tippity tup I’m moving forward, I’m moving up Tip top tap tippity tip I’m moving forward going on a trip I dance to a fresh tune Known only by a few Who else knows it? Could it be you? |
“Composing ‘Lion’ with Director Signe Baumane’s lyrics was a truly inspiring journey. Signe’s words beautifully depicted a story of strength and determination, and my goal was to translate these emotions into music. We worked closely to create a composition that would deepen the film’s emotional impact, aiming to resonate with the audience on a profound level. The song was designed to instill a sense of empowerment and reflect the protagonist’s journey, achieved by blending orchestral and electronic elements for a dynamic and emotionally charged piece. It was a rewarding creative process, and I’m genuinely proud of the final outcome. I hope the audience finds ‘Lion’ as moving as we did when we crafted it,” Sensini stated.
“Collaborating with the remarkable performer Storm Large was a privilege. Her commanding and emotive voice added a new dimension to the song, perfectly conveying the raw emotions and strength within the lyrics. Storm’s performance brought the song to life, forging a deep connection with the audience and elevating the film’s storytelling. Working alongside Storm was a fantastic experience, and her contribution played a pivotal role in making “Lion” a memorable and impactful musical piece.”
TESTIMONIALS
“I enjoyed the film, the score and the songs very much. Good work!” Charles Bernstein (Academy Member, A Nightmare on Elm Street Composer) about My Love Affair With Marriage
“I have to congratulate all involved in creating this most original piece of work, from its initial concept, imaginative visuals and really entertaining score.” John Cameron (Academy Member) about My Love Affair With Marriage
“I listened to the final song and I loved it, it is one of the most wonderful songs I have ever heard, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart.” Edesio Alejandro (Academy Member) about Lion from My Love Affair With Marriage
“Yet, the music here makes all the difference -and elevates it from another authorial perspective to a jointly enjoyed experience (and plight). Kristian Sensini and his jazz-soul mid-tempo vocal arrangements (with a playful piano and wind and brass instruments -violin reserved for ‘sober’ sequences) make ‘My Love Affair with Marriage’ a staccato experience, and one that you cannot easily pass by; and, of course, make the bitter pill of Zelma’s troubles perfectly palatable.” Vassilis Kroustallis Zippy Frames
“I love working with composer Kristian Sensini. With his work on My Love Affair With Marriage, Kristian truly shows that the sky’s the limit for his talents. He wrote 23 distinct songs, and an amazing score. I love how the Biology music in the opening scene draws us into the story, and the end-credit song (sung by Storm Large) closes the story with a feeling of hope and possibilities. His exceptional understanding of visual storytelling informs the music he writes – a rare combination of talents with added extraordinary work ethic and passion for film and music. He not only saved the day for “Rocks In My Pockets”, but he also pushed it higher up to a new level of filmmaking. Without Kristian’s score the film wouldn’t be complete nor it would be as good is it is now.” Signe Baumane (Director)
!I saw the movie, and I found it truly extraordinary! Witty, original, intelligent, rich in important meanings, perfect in pace, and wonderful in music! You couldn’t have composed a more beautiful soundtrack than this! Well done!! I extend my sincerest compliments to both of you for creating this animated masterpiece!” Bruno Bozzetto ( Director and Animator Legend about the movie “My Love Affair With Marriage”)
